Engine harness meet dash harness

Where does the engine harness plug into the dash harness. I'm in the process of changing the engine harness and need to know where the dash harness plugs into it.

Is it hiden somewhere under the dash or is in under the hood somewhere?

I don't think they are connected. Most of the ones i've seen everything for the motor in one harness and the rest of the car is another.

This is confusing the hell out of me. I have teh harness from another injected bird that I would love to use becasue the one in the car is hacked to shiznit.

So if it doesn't connect to anyting else I have severa questions then:

1: Why didn't they mount it in the engine bay where it would be easy to change instead of having to be a contorsionist to change the thing.

2: If it doesn't connect to the dash harness then how does the VSS and and engine check light work?

Just a few thought I had.

Once again you've pulled that out of the same asshole you did the 5 lug snowflakes....

The dash harness interfaces with the engine harness right about the area of the master cylinder on 87's and 88's, on 86's its by the coil.  There just two or three (depending on what year) connectors.

Now on the Computer side.. you have to pull out the computer...unhook the ground and unplug the relay... then unhook the fuel pump connector IIRC, been a while since I've been in that corner.

Now your car is an 88 right???  You'lle have to use the harness out of an 88.....

Yes its an 88 and the harness was a kinda funny story there. I came from an 86 but has a roller engine in it. So I am assuming it is an 88. But you know what happens when you assume....

Thanks for the info I will have to look into it some more and make sure they are compatible before pulling the other one.

ALL 86 and up are roller engines...

You will have problems interfacing it with the dash.... as its a different style set of connectors... the alternators are different between 86 and 88.... tab and tad connectors are different.....  WOT relay is in a different spot.... and there is more!!  Do yourself a favor and get an 88 harness....

Oh the interface for the fuel pump harness is different as well..

Tune Port??? your thinking Gm there my friend... Now V8 wise they had the SEFI starting in 86.. But V6's didn't get MPFI untill 88.. like my sled.

I thought the idea behind saying "I think" is I am not sure. But I guess it  would be to much to read those words and let them sink in before you start puppies on others.  Besides what do you think I'm gonna kiss your feet. Not if you were a GOD. You where right but you just have to keep going on and on about it.  I guess you've never made a mistake in your life time. And seeing how you have all the info where does the harness on a 84 turbo coupe hook up to the chassis harness? Wait no check engine light, cable driven speedo, all idiot lights in the dash.  Most of the harnesses I've worked with were the early 2.3t harnesses. Besides there was no mention of year, motor

All in all I thought we were here to help others not flame others when they make a mistake.

True but giving information that you THINK may be correct isn't helping anyone. The differences between a '83-'84 and '85-'88 are many(not to mention the changes in each year), best to stick to your expertise. If you notice I seldom post on the early models, as I have no experience with those(I did pull a windshield on a '84, but I think thats it). I basically jumped from carbs to port injection models('86-up), never owned any vechile with CFI(yea I know a '84 TC is EFI).
