Factory Manual Brakes? July 20, 2008, 04:11:41 PM Not that I want them, at all but today I seen something odd in a Fairmont. It had what looked like an Aluminum bracket to bolt a conventional master cylinder to the firewall sans booster of course. Is this something the mustang crowd would want? I'll go get it if so. I bought a '79 Pinto same way; 2.3, 4spd, man steer, man brake, heater, AM radio. Nothing else. I have to say, I really liked it that way. Only the early '79s got the 2800 V6, had a '79 Capri with one, and it had almost everything available...Owned 6-8 Fairmonts and Zephyrs with the 200(but no 4cyl) and one '79 with a 5.0... The 200 was too long to fit in any Pinto or Double Stang...The earlier Pintos only had 4cyls... First ones had a 1.6L(British) OHV or a OHC 2.0(German)... The US built Lima 2.3 made it's debut in the new '74 Stang II, also available was the German 2.6 V6... This was the only year a V8 was not an option in a Stang... The 302(we weren't calling them 5.0s back then) required the radiator support be moved forward, along with a longer hood...This year(only) you could get the 2.0 or 2.3 in the Pinto(believe the 1.6 was dropped), the 2.0 disappeared for '75, first V6s I remember in the little horse, were the '76 models...
