TC foglight mounts

I have a set of stock fog light mounts that I'm trying to figure out how it bolts up to the bumper. IIRC, its only one bolt, but all the extra bracketry and holes have got me confused. Anyone have a picture?

okay, I think I got them on, although only one of the 3 bolts line up with the bumper holes

Here's my vague sketch of how they work. IMO, Ford over engineered this one. You're better off tossing them, if you can mount them any other way that doesn't require 50lbs of steel bracket hanging over the front wheels.

I've seen your sketch before, but it wasn't much help. The bolt holes don't all line up (off by half an inch). I just bolted the brackets in with the bolts that were already in place on the bumper...the right most on the drivers side and the left most bolt on the passenger. The 2 vertical holes are unused

but on the topic, does anyone know of a way to mount these things a little further out (an inch) or change the horizontal aim slightly? I think its time to design my own mounting scheme, while probably reusing all or part of these brackets

Try using something like tin sheeting. Stamped 1/4" steel brackets are overkill.

On my 84 T/c they just bolt to the bumper like in the old raven pic. I can tell you my brackets had both vert. and hor. holes. I had to use on of each to mount them to my car. Of corse yours being the 86-up  bumper and cover might be different. I think chiltons has one of there drawings of it.
