So what did you do on the upper portion of the rear??? The coil tapers down to a flat surface for even mounting...

angle grinder:D  flattened the top coil some to sit flush and put a piece of heater hose over the coil

I wanna change the suspension on my 86. Would the sway bars make the biggest difference other than tires? Does it ride rough after you cut the springs?

Not tryin to hi-jack here, but, I read your initial post on this thread and on a whim today I stopped at the local bone yard and yanked a T/C rear sway bar(wanted to get it before she goes to the crusher) and you're absolutely right, big difference.

Hey Chuck, if you're reading this...you could probably make some loot by fabbing up some trick new quick disconnect links for the front sway bars(for drag use of course).

It rides about like a stock 5.0 mustang stiff yet not real harsh.

sway bars and tires will make a big differance.

On my 84 bushings are all shot, I know that will help alot. What brand or kind of shocks/struts do you guys most recommend. I have some but they arent great. After 14 years of sitting covered in a garage, this car needs some major tlc and revamping.
