Fuel System Question December 01, 2005, 11:15:28 PM My 88 5.0 runs good under steady state driving but if you give it gas especially over 2000 rpm it coughs and sputters. It is fine again if I back off the gas. I did some diagnostic on it. I found fuel pressure at idle is 32 with vacuum line on regulator and 40 with the vacuum line unhooked. The line on my gauge is not long enough to drive and read the gayuge, but I put it in drive, and brake torqued it. When i run it under load this way once I rev it to 2000 or so the fuel pressure drops to 20 or so pounds. So I found the problem, but got a question. I think it is the pump and am looking for confirmation. I doubt it is the regulator, filter or something based on the numbers I get at idle. Let me know if I am on the right track before I have all kinds of fun dropping the tank.......Thanks Quote Selected

Fuel System Question Reply #2 – December 02, 2005, 11:57:19 AM Change the filter, but yea it's probably the pump... If the reg was bad, pressure would likely be high/low all the time...You'll be amazed at how much better it will run with a new pump(or filter). Even light throttle will seem like you've floored it... Quote Selected
