niizhmkwa,
I've got a set of power chrome mirrors from an '84 LS Cougar.  Even if you don't have power switches, they can be adjusted by hand.  How does $25 plus shipping sound?  Let me know.

Barry,
Sure, they're a direct fit.  Any Cougar or Bird mirror from '83 to '86 will interchange.  The only difference, and I think this is pretty much across the board, is, Cougars got chrome mirrors and Birds got black, which usually turns to a dull gray.  I replied to your e-mail a little while ago.  Give me a shout.

There is a difference between mirrors.  Some bolt directly up and others require an adapter bracket.  My 87 had the adapter plate, 85 did not.

83-86 are the same. I have tbird doors/mirrors on one of my cars. Also, 87-88 are the ones that have adaptar plates.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

They are not 'adapter plates'...they are wind splitters. The idea was to keep the air from creating a noise around the mirrors, and also to channel the water around the mirror housings when driving in rain. It was an NHV solution.

1983-86 mirrors have the 3 mounting studs directly bolted into the housings. 1987-88 mirrors have the 3 mountings studs in the splitters. The splitters are then screwed to the housings. Therefore one should stick with 1983-86 mirrors for 1983-86 cars because they will mount correctly without any modifications.
