i need some engine advice

the other day i yanked my motor casue the oil pressure was getting low. well any ways it is shot need to cut the crank and cylinders. i wanted some help i want to run in the 13's on all motor i know some say it aint hard at all. here is what i got to work with so far i have a edelbrock 600 carb, torker2 intake ,headers, and a set of stock ported heads not crazy ported, but i did open them up. i planned on just cutting the crank and cylinders puting in some 30 over flat tops with my heads should give me about 9.5 compresion and putting my old cam back in wich is a crane 484
\484 lift and 272 duration. i have a c4 and 3.73 gears what you all think let me know thanks for your time

I'd make sure you have enough valve clearance with flat tops - you'd probably be better off getting some pistons with the reliefs (like stock HO pistons have).

a dual plane intake will give you torque  such as the weiand stealth or performer rpm.

a cam with 230 duration @.50  and 488-500 lift

and a small stall 2,500 ish

I would go with a holley carb if performance is what you desire the edelbrock is a great daily driver carb but really lacks in the performance aspect of things.

what i suggested should put you well into the low 13's with a healthy shortblock and decently ported heads.

what head castings are you using? a good set of heads will wake your combo up alot.

sounds good man i got a 680 holley carb that i can rebuild and i think my heads are 78 pretty sure but i will check so you think i would be better of with a 498 liftcam and a stealth intake would be a better combo to go with oh ya and my converter right now has about 2200 stall

yeah i think some duration say around 292 adv duration or 230@.50 and a little more lift .488-500 will do you good.

the stealth intake works great .

sounds like youve got a pretty good setup so far.
