Knock Sensor

according to the NATO homepage, and i quote:

"Disconnecting the knock sensor  (KS) is also good for a noticeable increase. The KS tells the EEC to pull out boost and (we think) also timing and boost when sounds in the frequency range of detonation occur. It is, however, subject to false alarms. To avoid this just unplug the KS. But remember the KS is a safety device."

has anyone done this?  i cant find the stupid KS in the first place, let alone disconnect it.  where in the world is it?

I rarely leave them connected on my cars.  The 2.3 is a noisey mill, and the valve train can cause alot of the "false alarms".

The KS is attached to the lower intake, and it should be sticking out towards the driver fender.  2 wires going to it.

If you want to leave it in and desensitize it a bit, try wrapping the threads w/ some teflon tape.  If you do pull it....be very mindful of the engine, and perhaps drive it a bit w no radio on, windows up, etc just to listen to make sure nothing is arwy..
