3.8 V-6 Gas Mileage Reply #2 – November 07, 2005, 08:22:19 AM Mine gets an 'instant mpg' on the highway(70 mph) of over 30 mpg. The highest overall avg mileage I've gotten is 28.3, and that was on a 130 mile trip, with only about 5 miles of city driving. With a typical mix of hwy/city, the 'avg mpg' hovers around 21-22. I just purchased this car, but that seems like a pretty good mileage to me, considering the relative size, weight and unaerodynamics of the car. I have a 92 Cutlass Ciera (3.3 liter V-6)that only gets 26 hwy, and about 18 city. My Mark VII LSC gets about 20 city, 28-30 hwy (both 'instant mileage'), but I can average about 26-28 mpg 'avg mpg' on the hwy with a lot of cruise control at about 75 mph or so. It gets about 20 avg in the city. This is my first 3.8 liter in a Fox-body, and I am pleasantly surprised at the good performance and mileage of the thing. Yee-haw! Quote Selected

3.8 V-6 Gas Mileage Reply #4 – November 07, 2005, 03:13:14 PM Some pretty decent numbers. However, I have an 83 with the carb'd 3.8. What kind of mileage can be had from that anemic engine? Quote Selected

Since its alrady established he has a '88 it is neither, but instead EFI. Meaning it uses the batch fire system like the trucks that fire multiple injectors at once, not the Sequential EFI(SEFI) the 5.0 car engines use. The Turbo Coupes also use the EFI system, hence the badges on the '83-'84 models.OK schools out... Quote Selected
