Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** October 31, 2016, 01:10:50 PM I am working to convert an original V6 87coug to an V8 87cougWe have cut the driver side (RT) V6 wiring harness off leaving a 16'' pigtailwe have an 87 V8 harness for the driver side to graft in.this new v8 harness came from a donor car up in PA along with the engine harness and EEC harness.i cut this DONOR harness inside the car directly above the fuse panel in order to obtain slack for future grafting to our v6 car.we pulled out this drivers side DONOR harness to include the fire wall grommet.we have inventoried wire for wire to solder splice the new v8 harness to the v6 pigtail and have six spare wires with colors that have no mates.the question is this......the 87coug now sits with a v6 pigtail hanging out and there is a red/bl wire. (we all know this color to typically be observed as associated with the start ckt.on my 87 v8 donor harness there is not a red blue wire where i made my cut to chop it off.Red blue in this donor harness appears further downstream in the harness that is factory spliced to the white pink.this red blue splits out in three confirmed terminating directions within the donor harness. The white pink happens to be one of the conductors that is spare and unsolved within my donor harness. The white pink seems to be the source conductor for the red/blue.it appears the EVTM is misleading comparing the v6 to the v8 applications.Do i simply connect my white pink conductor to the red blue?while i wait for a reply, i am going to look at my 20th v8 car closer and determine if the following is true-v6 cars had the red blue pass through the fire wall-v8 cars did not have a red blue passing through the fire wall. Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** Reply #1 – October 31, 2016, 04:40:17 PM progress,,i have found that on my v6 coug the red blue that enters the fire wall lands on a connector affixed to the fuse panel. On my 20th coug V8, there is no conductor on this same connector terminal landing.next i need to physically confirm there is no red blue entering the firewall on my v8 cougar.. Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** Reply #4 – November 01, 2016, 11:31:46 AM Of course I avoid a Ford 3.8 like they were bubonic plague, west nile virus, etc but I'm having a hard time visualizing why you'd cut the harness... When I swapped the 5.0 in my T-Coupe, I cut plug from '87 5.0 body harness and one from the 2.3 computer harness then just spliced them together, color for color.... At that point it mostly all plugged together... For TC the red/blue wire to solenoid is in body harness, there wasn't one in the 5.0 engine harness... Even if different color, had to be one in body harness, can't check now car was sped 10+ years ago...BTW do you have a good 3.8??? I have a buddy near Lexington Va who may be interested... BTW do you have a good 3.8??? I have a buddy near Lexington Va who may be interested...no , dont have a good 3.8,, someone from mass drove down to get it for free.On the 87 3.8L config, the body harness , battery stuff ect is opposite of the 5.0.i want to convert the body harness to 5.0 so i cut off the 3.8 and am grafting in the 5.0L body harness.this way when Chance (my youngest boy) works on it, he can follow the 5.0 EVTM. Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** Reply #6 – November 01, 2016, 02:34:21 PM for what its worth,, the 87 year 3.8 body harness is very very much like the 87year 5.0 body harness yet the major differences are CFI and battery / washer fluid ect location.I am donw to 5 wires now in my 87harness that dont have a color to splice to in my firewall. a couple are working themselves out like,, "low oil sensor,, that one we dont need. Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** Reply #8 – November 01, 2016, 02:37:46 PM in this instance, my 87 3.8L body wiring pigtail has a red/blue wire waiting for me at the fire wall.in my 87 5.0L body harness, the red is in there but its sourced "from" a white pink. I do have a white pink waiting for me on my firewall pigtail. Quote Selected
Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** Reply #9 – November 01, 2016, 04:32:45 PM For my swap I had to add to alt wiring harness as they are on opposite sides, but battery is on driver side for both... Luckily my $100 Sport 5.0 parts car gave me almost everything necessary... Quote Selected

Red Blue wire coming from driver side firewall Start ckt **SOLVED** Reply #12 – November 08, 2016, 09:12:46 AM Confirmed, the EVTM's illustrate your expectations of a red blue start circuit wire on the body harness to penetrate the fire wall in all fox applications. The start ckt red blue does show up in the body harness on the 3.8L CFI applicaition (the harness on the drivers side fire wall penetration).the start ckt for the 5.0L with full digital cluster body harness shows up as a white pink, the red/blue color change happens on one of the connectors at the fuse panel.Wh/Pk = Rd/Bl for startif your car is full buttstuffog, i dont have an answer if you need to know Quote Selected
