Careers...

I want to know what professions are popular in north america. Particulary, im studing Information and Computing at the University.
Feel free to post what do you study (or studied).....

Spent 3.5 years at school to be an auto mechanic. Thanks to the teacher I learned all about Chevys and thats it.

Took 3 classes in Pro/e and now sit behind a desk being mr. enginner.

Holy there are a lot of "popular" careers to choose from. That's why I've no idea what to do when i grow up!

Now I am one - only I surf the internet rather than the waves.

I have three diplomas Electronic Engineering Technology, Webmaster, and E-commerce.
I'm employed as a system administrator.

I went to trade school to become a mechanic and graduated with high honours and won several awards, then went through three years of General Motors ASEP training, specializing in electronic design, diagnosis and repair and won "best student" there. Then I got rear-ended on the weekend before getting my final certification and blew that career into the woods. Now I build cop cars because running wires is easier on the back than replacing transmissions. 1/2 the work, 1/2 the pay :(

PC tech for a major corporation.
Went to school for Computational Mathmatics and Telecommunication (IT focus), only have the degree in telecom though.
IT jobs here in the USA are tough to come by right now with the way the economy is.
Nurses are the most in demand job in the US right now. lots of jobs and it pays good.

I repaired TVs for 38 years, but it's not a profession I'd recommend these days...

I was making $25.10 hr when I retired, but the starting pay is more like $15-$18.

I agree. I call this the age of disposable electronics. For the most part if a TV or VCR or radio breaks these days it's cheaper to through it away and get new.
