1988 ford thunderbird fuel pump not turning on

So I just replaced the fuel pump in my 88 Tbird and everything was working great until a week into having the new one when the car wouldn't start after I was done with work. I came back the next day to take a look and it fired back up.now it's doing again but won't start so I replaced the relay and checked the inertia switch and still nothing. Any ideas? Maybe a grounding issue?

Is it priming but won't start or is it not priming at all?

Was it an airtek pump? I helped swap one in and it only built up to 8psi brand new out of the box. $10 more got us a walbro.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
