88 Cougar Electronic Dash / Oil Pan has low LEVEL sender / Where is the warning light

I am moving a drive train from one 88 Cougar to another.  Donor car is the old red car. Target car is the new grey car.

No problems so far but I am really puzzled about something.

The Donor car has an buttstuffog instrument cluster. The Target car has an electronic cluster.

While swapping engines I noticed that the Target car has a low oil LEVEL sender in the oil pan.  Does anyone know where the warning light lights up [location on dash] if the low oil LEVEL sender throw a positive ["Oil Level is Low"] signal. This would be a ground signal. [The level sender floats and touches metal ground
when the oil gets too low.]

Photo would be great. Wiring diagram would help as well.  [I have searched our forum and googled]

Thanks,
Roadbird

There never was a light for that. IIRC, the low oil sensor was a "kill switch" of sorts. If the oil level is too low it won't start or something. I am sure one of our schematic wizards will post the actual schematic.

On the electronic cluster the Low Oil light is located in the top right corner.  It illuminates when the pan is about 1 quart low.  There is no "kill" function such as car wont start if illuminated.

I must be mixed up with all the GMs I have had to work on lately, heh. I know in the Astro van I have, the oil pressure switch interrupts the fuel pump if the pressure gets too low. Oh well, enough trying to save face, LOL, I was wrong.

Thanks so much. I was going to change out to an buttstuffog but this one function is worth keeping the electronic because this stroker motor has a girdle on the bottom of the block that sometimes keeps me from checking the oil level!

Do you know if the electronic cluster has any of the other warning functions that were previously available on the optional warning panel.

headlight bulbs out, brake light bulbs out, door ajar, and a few others?

Cars equipped with buttstuffog cluster usually had Systems sentry, which was a panel with six warning lights located under heater control. It's pretty stupid location, but still better, than nothing.

They leak Enough said. Check your oil regularly and remove the sender from the pan and plug it.

They are pretty usefull on turbo coupes when turbo starts to die and leak oil into the exhaust. Both of mine work fine, they don't leak at all.
