The t-5 gears are slightly different. I know some gears wont mesh properly and have to be trimmed in order to fit in an aod.

id inspect the vss. Take a drill and hook it up to the vss, and see ifnyou have any speedo movement. If you do, id try ordering a new speedo gear, might need to get both a driven gear and the drive gear for a proper reading.

Its faily simple to swap the driven gear, but youhave to remove the tailshaft and shifter, so id try just the drive gear on the vss first.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.
