Just stick a pin in the wires and take a reading. If you have it before and not after, you found your problem. I always take the seat and window motors apart on my older cars and service them. Good luck! Quote Selected
power seats Reply #3 – December 03, 2012, 09:30:08 AM I actually just probed my meter right at the switch. Can I just put a pin in any of the wires before the switch to see if there is power? Quote Selected
power seats Reply #4 – December 03, 2012, 10:03:30 AM in my signature there are a couple of links to wiring diagram books.the 1987evtm link should match up, however i have not yet uploaded my son's 88evtm, again the diagram on page 181 should match up.here is a link to an older thread showing the power seat diagram,, just look at the color of the wire from the source circuit breaker and check for power on that color wire at the switch.Qualifier-- do you have "memory seats",, two buttons on your door arm rest?http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/showthread.php?16213-Duel-Powering-seating-mod.. Can I just put a pin in any of the wires before the switch to see if there is power? just ground your black meter lead or test lightprob any wire coming into the switch but like said, the circuit breaker has a wire that feeds the switch per the diagram.once you verify you have power coming in, it spreads out across different directions depending on the poistion you place the switch. They do come apart and you "could" inspect but its up to you.
