power seat question

i hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but are the power seat motors and seat tracks on my 83 the same for the driver and passenger side?  In other words, i have a power drivers seat, and swapped out my old front seats for nicer ones i had, can i use the old drivers seat motor and track on the passenger side?  Is the orientation different?  thanks....

David

The motors and "guts" might be the same between the two but the tracks have different mounting points side to side. Are your seat tracks worn out? I would think they wouldn't get much use as I usually just set the seat where I want it and never move it.

Actually my current seats are mechanically perfect and were out of a low mileage car wrecked many years ago.  I was asking as i wanted "dual" power seats more because i like the fully optioned console symmetry better than a single power seat controller. I know that must seem weird..... LOL

I had the dual controls for a few years until I located the power seat base and wire harness for the passenger side.  Who knew!:hick:

Ah got ya. I've got dual power seats and I do notice the single power seat plate looks odd to me. It looks like something is missing.

I was looking at a drives side power track yesterday, and though....if I needed another passenger track, I could always cut the stuff off, and weld it to the other side in a pinch

, this is a very good question,, got me curious now.
i dont see why the upper portion would be any different on pass to driver side.
lower mounting braket yes, thats understandable but not sure on the answer here as to the upper half where your ass sits.

only someone with seats off and a bottom view would be able to do a show and tell right now.

for some reason i think the driver side motors are dressed to the left , pass motors are slightly dressed to the right.

my assumption is the motor set up is probably the same but the tracks and mounting must be different.......finding the power seat base is going to be a bitch to locate.....its heavy and pricey to ship.
