Speedo stopped working.....

My speedometer stopped working....The only thing that I have done recently to the car that is or has anything to do with the speedo is take out the three warning lights in the insturment panel on the lower right hand side. I did that because they are always on and it is very annoying. Is there any way that since we have electric speedo's it could have stopped working because I removed those lights? I am thinking this is a possability because of the fact that on the back of the cluster there is that brownish "sheet" with all the wires "pressed" into it. They're not really wires either. I'm sure you know what I meen. By taking those lights out could have a inturepeted the flow of electricity through the "sheet?" I will probably put the lights back in but I just wanted to run this past you guys....Thanks.

The lack of bulbs shouldn't affect the speedo. My guess is one of the big plugs (probably the brown one) wasn't snapped all the way back in. Either that or you tore the plastic wiring while you were viciously ripping the bulbs out with your vice-grips.

Could also so be the spped sensor in the tranny. Just could have went out never know. I don't belive light bulb circuit's would have anything to do with your speed O meter.
