So we said goodbye...

And made a hard choice to end a good dog's suffering.
Bear was only 5, but cancer is an evil thing.

We rescued him late last summer, saved him from being taken to the shelter, and gladly gave him a home. My wife's sister fell in love with him, so we let her "adopt" him...sadly, they only had 6 months before he started getting sick, and it was cancer that he was found to have. She made the tough decision yesterday...and it really hard for me to take care of the rest. He was Lab/Mastiff mix, and gentle as could be. I remember the first time he barked...scared the hell out of me...deep and loud. He was big dog with a big heart...and he leaves an even bigger void behind, but we know he's pain free and runnin' with some new friends somewhere now...and sometime we'll get across that Bridge.

that really sucks.. we had to put my dog (ironically, named bear) down a few years ago.. it was like losing a brother.. he was my best friend.. really put a hole in my heart.. maybe bear and bear will become good friends up in the grassy medows of 'the better place.' :(

Sorry to hear of your loss. My best friend passed away the beginning of the month, she would have been 7, four days ago. Its quite amazing how much a part of your life a pet becomes in such a short period of time.
