Truthfully, when I saw the dash, it really did make me wonder if you were joking. I've never seen anything like that before. I meant no ill intent. I'm trying to see who I'm talking to. Look up dash caps on Ebay. That'll fix all of your dash issues and make your dash look sweet again. I had one on mine until I found a crack free replacement. ....which these days is getting super hard to do. I see why you want to cover the cracks.

Let's start over...................

Welcome aboard.
If you need any tips or help, let me know. I'll do my best to give you good ideas and find whatever parts may help your car. We all started somewhere on here. I got beat a little too when I started here.LOL. Part of the game.

I could get past the front bumper when I saw it painted, but when I saw the dash I couldnt believe my eyes?  I  wasnt sure what to make either.  I thought maybe a young kid/ first car........ or something.

If your serious welcome, if your trolling us GJ also as it made me smile.

For dash repair check out Cool Cats. Bumper black works better than rubber undercoat on the bumper also.

There are a number of dash overlays available that cover the areas that crack.  One piece, glues on, fits perfectly and is difficult to tell it's not original.  JC Whitney has a cheapie for under $100 delivered, and a couple of others around $150-175 delivered, depending on whether you just want black (cheapest) or color matched to your original scheme.  I just received mine and will be installing it tomorrow.  I think maybe the negative post was because they thought that this was the finished product.  Does something peel off and leave a nice shiny smooth surface behind? Or is this how it turned out?  Keep in mind that most of the people on this site have a personal interest in these cars due to all of the work they've invested in restoring them and there are fewer and fewer nice Cougars and T-birds every day to work with.  I'm on my 3rd 88 Cougar and will reluctantly be junking my second because a tree fell on it (after I pull off every part I can get my hands on).  The wood grain look is unique, but if it stays all wrinkly like that I would consider making it a temporary fix until I can get the real deal.  Good luck with the car, either way.  There is lots of good info on this forum and CoolCats.net, among other places, and sooner or later there's a good chance one of these guys that was just busting your chops will be able to hook you up with parts or information that will make or break the future of your car's looks or performance.
