Re: PERFECT Black 83-84 dashpad Reply #2 – May 09, 2005, 10:47:22 AM I'm open to consider reasonable offers....It is not boxed up so I can't say with any certainty exactly how much shipping would be. I am sure it would be considered oversized...I would have to locate a box, get it packaged up and then I could nail down an accurate shipping cost. It does not seem faded...just dusty from sitting. There really isn't much else I need for the car right now.... Quote Selected
Re: PERFECT Black 83-84 dashpad Reply #3 – May 10, 2005, 01:18:34 PM svopaul,Where are you located? I might also be interested in the dash pad. Do you or anybody else know how to paint / where to get said paint for interior panels to match factory color? My '84 Cougar dash is originally a chocolate brown color to coordinate with a beige interior. If I paint it, I also had to replace the cocoa brown armrest pad on the console with a black one and would like it to be brown, too. Do you have a ballpark idea of what you would like to get out of it? Thanks for the reply.Fordman3 Quote Selected
Re: PERFECT Black 83-84 dashpad Reply #4 – May 10, 2005, 10:07:57 PM Fordman3. I work at parts store that sells Dupont brand paint. I know we can mix the vinyl paint in store. Even if you don't know or can't read the interior paint code anybody thats sells dupont and mixes it should be able to look up the color buy year and make. It will also tel you if it is a interior or exterior color. Sometimes it will also tell you what cars it was on but that isn't that often. So is $40 reasonable or not. Quote Selected
Re: PERFECT Black 83-84 dashpad Reply #5 – May 11, 2005, 01:17:31 AM I found a link once before, possibly from Eric's site, that carried interior paint to match factory colors. Maybe someone can be more specific, but I'm pretty sure I found it on Coolcats site. Quote Selected

As far as paint goes I usually mix my own as needed with our paint mixing system in the shop but it's more difficult that matching auto paint at times and it's sprayed through a paint gun just like auto paint. Your local auto parts store that sells automotive paint can do the same thing and match your interior or you can try the aerosol cans out there. Remember the key to getting interior paint right is the prep work of the panels you are going to paint. As far as the dashpad, I would like to get at least $75 for it.....that money can go toward finding the dash I need for my '87. Re: PERFECT Black 83-84 dashpad Reply #7 – May 12, 2005, 01:20:42 PM svopaul,Thanks for the reply. I can't afford $75 right now, even though that's probably a fair price. Heck, the last dashpad I bought was for my '69 Mach 1 (which is no longer in my possession, sob, sob), and I paid $200 for it and it was anything but perfect. IF (followed by many more smaller "if's") I come by some spendable money soon there is an '85 Cougar parts car near me that I have wanted to buy for quite a while. I'm told it's in "pretty good shape" over the phone. I need several body parts off of it for my '84 Cougar. If the interior is in good condition, would you trade even up for an '85 dash (which to my knowledge is the exact same as an '87)? I already know it's red. Let me know. Thanks.Fordman3 Quote Selected
Re: PERFECT Black 83-84 dashpad Reply #8 – May 12, 2005, 01:28:37 PM The dash is the same from 85-88 so yes I would trade for one provided it had no cracks and was not brittle. If they are brittle they will never make shipping if they even make it past the removal stage without cracking. Quote Selected
