Missing parts on my silver cat's axle???

I'm tearing my hair out trying to find out how the parking brake *works* on a Mark VII axle. It has one swapped in, 3.27, discs, trac-lok. I wanna say this little piece with a bolt threaded into it is supposed to...turn...get pushed in pulled out...something? It's right smack in between the two caliper mounting pin/bolts and has a very large but not deep hex head surrounding it, put a crescent wrench on that tried to turn it, didn't move so I assume I was wrong on that guess. But there is a bolt threaded into a round piece that has teeth around it but it's not a perfect circle, it's some odd shape, and it does rotate back and forth a little but trying to apply a little pressure doesn't seem to apply the caliper or anything. Again I have no idea what I'm looking at, I was just playing with it to see if I'd find something

The car's original cables are still there. I feel like I could fabricate something to hook it up...I just can't figure out what needs to move and where! :rollin:

Thanks!

Can you go to a yard and look at a Mark VII parking brake set up? Hell it might even be easier to just grab the cables from one.

I'd love to but the one I know of is sitting in tons of weeds just like the rest of the place and they sure as hell won't bring their fork out there and jack it up unless I wanna buy another axle off 'em.

Kiiiiiinda Carm, bigger version? LOL. It does give me an idea....I see a "parking brake lever". I wonder if that attaches to the piece I was rotating. It would obviuosly need a lot more torque to engage the caliper and stop the wheel than my little 3/8" drive socket could give if that is the actuator.

Im gonna try and find someone with a haynes/chilton manual or something meanwhile, but thanks for offering to take pics hypostang!

What's with that giant spring there? The right pic looks like it's viewing towards the front of the car? Correct me if I'm wrong. I figured there'd be some detail already here or on Eric's site, couldn't find anything. Looks like I'm missing all kinds of stuff. :(

I suppose normally when you obtain one of these axles....all of that is there. Sooo that info isn't necessary. :wtf: I guess I'll keep digging, and I'll take a picture of what IS there on mine and post it and that will show where I'm starting from and maybe we can piece the puzzle together. Thanks for the tidbits so far everyone!

EDIT - and of course now I see the sticky up top. I swear to God I don't know how I miss stuff like that...there's one pic in there that if only it were a biiiit brighter it would show me exactly what I need. I guess I'll hit up that one yard and see if one, its a disc rear and two theyll just sell me the stuff, I know they wouldnt bend me over for something stupid like that. I'll post up when I go if I'm successful.

The pic is taken from behind looking forward

Also , in 1990 they changed  rear brakes on the Mark VII
earlier cars had the same rears as SVOs
The pic I took was a 91 LSC
