Shift handle removal? March 09, 2010, 12:03:44 PM I want to replace the accordian slide pieces around the shifter on my 86 Cougar, its a floor shifter. How do I go about removing the handle so I can do this. Figured I would ask hoping its been done before so I dont ruin something in the process. Thanks Quote Selected
Shift handle removal? Reply #1 – March 09, 2010, 03:30:55 PM 1. With parking brake set, pull shifter back into 1st gear (better angle for removal).2. While depressing the button on the handle, pull the handle off of the shifter.3. Smack yourself in the face with the shift handle when it violently comes off. Quote Selected
