nightmare weekend

I have been trying to fix up a Merkur to sell and I just couldnt figure out the engine noise.  Soooo, I decided to swap motors with my TC...easy swap right.  HA!  First the Merk is a PITA to get the motor out of. Once I got both motors out, i swapped accessories only to find that several pieces are different.  AFTER i got the exhaust manifold bolted back in, I fount that the holes on the flex line are different sizes, so off that comes and r2 flex line.  Also the pipe feeding coolant from the block to turbo is different size, the ECT is different AND the oil pans are different as there is no sensor on the Merk pan.  THEN, i get the motor back in, only to find out it's impossible to get the trans hooked to the motor, so out that comes so I can bolt it to the motor and put it in as an assembly.  Talk about frustrating!  Every muscle in my body is sore!  But it's running like a champ now.

Hey, at least it worked out in the end, you didn't have to give up and tow it to a mechanic, heh.

Good job, I love to see persistance!

I'm glad to see at least you got it figured out. It would've been real bad if you couldn't have gotten it running.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work for a car you're just going to sell. I hope you get enough bucks to make it all worthwhile!!

Actually, it's in the 40's here, which is like below zero in Ohio. LOL
The Merk motor is still good, plus now that I have the tbird apart, i am going to do the 5-lug conversion, put in the sn-95 mustang dash, and get the new motor ready for the Holset.
