Those are the same valve covers as found on all 89+ 3.8's (my '91 had 'em), and they will not fit 88 and older engines. The heads are a different shape - older ones have curved top corners, while newer ones had flat, angular ones.

Come to think of it, they might fit an 88 engine (first year for MPFI) but I am not sure.
