drive car around on a clear sunny day to a car wash.
go trough car wash
get out of car and feel for wet areas.

i would have some interior parts taken off before hand , i am sure you have suspected certain areas by now.

also,
check under the car and see if there are rubber plugs under the vehicle that may have fallen out along the floor pans.

Sunroof/moonroof car? How's the seal around the back glass (all of it, 1/4 windows included) look like from a visual point of view?

Trunk seal nice and good? Might be stretch there, but possible that water could get in and find it's way to the floorpan...

Also, X2 on the plugs in the bottom.

One more thing...check the bottom side of the fllor pans for rust, the MN-12's are known (infamously) for rust on the 1/4 panels and bottoms in that area...good luck.

on these cars if you are getting water in the car and the door seals are good and if it has a sunroof if those seals are good o would suspect it comming from the cowl under the hood. On the 93 and up they used a higher conelike thing (for the ac) And on the earlyer models 89-92 they used one that was 1 inch shorter. So water would find its way in then it would travel from the pass side of the car and would rot the floor quick. Pull up the carpet on the drivers and pass side, There are a bunch of wires that run in those areas if you see rust then this could be the culprate. But if not i would suspect door seals since on my 90 theye are shot same with the trunk seal. But also visit http://www.sccoa.com there is alot of mn12 specific info over there that could help you.
