Car squeaks October 25, 2009, 04:18:12 PM The car squeaks...looks like most of the rubber drive parts are pretty old, dry and cracking to some degree, the steering and ride are pretty tight, so don't think I need to be replacing things, just get them lubed again, I have been spraying them with silicon spray and it has been helping, is there anything better to use? Car squeaks Reply #1 – October 25, 2009, 05:07:09 PM Using a spray is only really masking the problem....use a little grease and it will be more effective, not to mention last longer. :D Quote Selected
Car squeaks Reply #2 – October 25, 2009, 11:29:06 PM One of the worst and most annoying squeaks on these cars is the seatbelt release down at the bottom corner. That hard plastic button is up against the door, and the least movement in the door (and they move a LOT) makes the most annoying squeak. Grease fixes this for a little while, but as soon as someone gets in/out of the back seat, they rub the grease off, and get pissed at you for having grease there. I've also had some limited success with graphite, but since it's dry to begin with, it eventually rubs off. Has anyone tried a teflon top on that release or anything to make it STOP SQUEAKING? Car squeaks Reply #3 – October 26, 2009, 05:12:32 AM Ahh, I've never noticed a squeak from that, usually mine are from pedal assemblies and the door hinges...maybe I'm just not driving them enough to keep the metal shiny? lol Quote Selected

And I call myself an engineer. One of the simplest fixes. Will hit the craft store and get a whole sheet of 'em, because my F-150 doors squeak because of the SAME reason. I know it's that silly button, because I have put grease on 'em before and stopped the squeak. Don't guess I can complain, though. An 86 model anything that's still rolling and fully intact should squeak. What the heck, I squeak when I walk, LOL. Quote Selected
Car squeaks Reply #6 – October 27, 2009, 12:44:20 PM My T-bird used to squeak but then I replaced the entire front suspension and the rear shocks. Now it's quiet and rides nice;) Quote Selected

Car squeaks Reply #8 – October 28, 2009, 03:26:29 PM The sway bar main bushings look real bad, the rest I can see don't look as bad, the parts store say's they show several sizes for this car...is this correct, did they put many sizes of sway bars on the 87 TC and if so, I don't have a microgauge, how can I tell which size bar I have? Car squeaks Reply #9 – October 28, 2009, 08:20:24 PM Just tell them you need bushing for an '87 Turbo Coupe.I did for the Sport....direct swap. Quote Selected
Car squeaks Reply #10 – October 28, 2009, 10:23:15 PM I did...apparently there are like 4 sizes....go figure. Will just have to measure, but others say there are like two, a 1-1/4" and 1-5/16"... Quote Selected
Car squeaks Reply #11 – November 14, 2009, 06:35:06 PM Every time I lube up the front, it's pretty quiet for a few minutes, then squeaks again...wonder if it could be the rubber inserts that are in side the springs, can they be removed or do they serve a necessary purpose? Quote Selected
Car squeaks Reply #12 – November 29, 2009, 03:30:17 PM It was ball joints, most of the squeak in front gone and drives better/straighter. Quote Selected
