Poetry/lyrics/meaningful words...

Anybody write anything of the sort?

I've got some stuff I've wrote over the last few years...every once in awhile I go back to look it over and remember the demons, the joys, the anger, or the sadness that I was going through at the time.

So I thought I'd see if there was very much interest, or if anybody else does too...maybe I'll post a couple of the really good ones...maybe. (not that i'm self-conscious of it..it just is so personal, and has a lot of meaning-i'd have to explain what I was going through at that time, so that people would understand it. i've only wrote one or two that could be "anything" for anybody, even those who know me very well...)

What I write about is real life, real pain kinda stuff, it helps me to get by...and I can tell by the dates when I wrote the most was when my life was at the low points.

Just for comparison, I've only wrote 2 pieces since I met Nicole...just sucks I can only write things when my life is a disaster lol.

So...whatcha got?

I do occasionally, but like you, I don't really care to share much. It's much harder to explain it than it is to just keep it to yourself.
It's Gumby's fault.

Or to have his eyes gouged out, and his elbows broken;
To have his kneecaps split, and his body burned away;
And his limbs all hacked and mangled, brave Sir Robin!

I've written a ton of songs, but only a few of them have lyrics; I always had a stronger focus on the music. I taught a few of the songs to the other guys in the band and we jam them out every once in a while.
I must say, however, that most of my lyrics and songs are goofball contraptions. I wrote an entire song that makes fun of Pittsburgh, for example.

When I was 13-14 I used to write poems that we turned into music when I used to play in a band. Most of it is long forgotten by now though. One small bit I can remember.

"Speculation tells you that best way to get by, you've gotta fight to live, you gotta do or die. Compression start your car, the screw driver lets you in, just to work your forty hours at a job that there's no end."

Band broke up about 3 or 4 years ago. I lost everything I had in it. 90% of all the songs we played ended up being about Zombie's and stuff anyways.

We did play one last show when I was 19 out in the middle of the desert behind a mountain as sort of a last hoora. We did probably 60+ hours of editing to just the sound trying to make it so that you couldn't hear the wind whistling in the mic on the camera. There was so much wind, and it was in a sand dune like area. Ruinned the sound in my amp till I took it all apart and cleaned it. and thats pretty much it. Can't tell what the lyrics are or anything about them.

I actually found a you tube of it. I'll post it as long as everyone remembers that we all did dumb shiznit as a kid.

And I'll warn you, its not really worth listening to. Just from back in the day when I was 14 or so and tried to learn guitar.

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

Tomorrow is never promised

There are a lot of way to saying that but in the end the meaning is the same. I used to write a lot. Up until almost a year ago. I have no drive for it anymore. I used to come up with some stuff that made me stop and think and i came up with it! Very few to non have read most of it though.

One of these days, when I have time, and not feeling like been hit by a train, I'll post a couple of mine...a few select people have read them and liked the raw, gritty feel of the way I write....

anway...one of these days I'll post something..

Or his liver removed and his bowels unplugged.. cant remember the rest lol

I write some times when I feel like absolute hell. I helps me get through it and I usually end up feeling better. I dont think I've ever wrote down a date on any of them but once I start reading them I could easily say when I wrote them.

A co-worker and I used to write songs about our other coworkers...it was all in good fun and helped relieve stress.

*liner note*
So, here's one I wrote a couple years ago as a response to someone's narrow-minded labeling of my spiritual beliefs...
This one has been on my myspace for awhile, so I have no problem sharing it here...
In regards to the content, whether you believe the world is round, or flat, just remember there are other people in this world who think differently. ;)

Your ways are not my ways, it’s plain to me
clear as day, but it’s something you can’t see...
All these faces, they’re in my way
trippin’ me up, day after day

"Let it harm none, do what thou will"
Consider it done, as I bite my tongue
but don’t shovel your shiznit at me

A lifetime of pain has it’s influence
I don’t need what you offer
I’m strong on my own
my faith guides me through

each day I wake that I’m still alive
Now it’s time for me to
spread my wings and fly

Your ways are not my ways
through these endless nights and darkest days
your ways are not mine

I won’t act like you because you think
that because you were raised that way
that there’s no other way to be? oh no
I’ve had enough of your self-induced
self-importance to last me a lifetime,
I think it’s time to go

I’ve got my own thoughts and beliefs, I’m my own person
it’s time you realized that your ways are not my ways
Get out of my way.
~B. McKenzie-08-28-2007~

So I wrote this last August, when someone made fun of my beliefs and philosophy.
shag that.
I don’t care what you are, what you pray to, what you worship, or what you even believe in...so extend the same courtesy to me.
I don’t need your hypocrisy, OR your ignorance of what I believe.
If you don’t know the subtleties or the facts, go do something constructive, like look it up, and be a little less condescending of others’ beliefs, thoughts, and lifestyles.

If this gets a decent response I'll consider posting a few more...
