Hot engine.

Does anyone else have problems with the old stpen 15 radiators having ALOT of build up in them, so much that ive flushed it twice and driving in cold weather it overheats? lol. Im just gunna buy a new one, but if anyone has any cheaper ideas speak up for me and everyone who might need to know also.

the parallel ports are really hard to get cleaned out.

i would pull it,
lay it on its back
fill with water and bleach and let it sit for a few days.

bleach water mix will really help alot but you still have to run some pretty good pressure into the radiator to get rid if the stuff you just broke loose.

no cheap fix,, just a new radiator.

I went to Autozone, got a brand new replacement radiator (It's aluminum, and cheaper than the old style),and it fixed all of those problems. The price was great, lifetime warranty, and the car does run cooler.

If you're sure it's the radiator, and have a few bucks, but little time to mess with it, take it to a decent radiator shop for a good cleaning.
I wouldn't bother with a salvage yard radiator, and new ones are terribly expensive.

Friend had an older GMC truck a few years ago that overheated a bit. We tuned it up with the usual things, it ran better, but still ran a little too warm.

Ended up putting a new radiator in as the fins on the original were strangely bent nearly closed on over half of it. At that point he also removed all the AC stuff..or maybe because he removed it, found the bent fins, can't remember exactly.
