butterfly doors

A friend of mine brought up the idea of lambo doors for the 88. Thinking about it kinda made me wonder, what would that look like? I realize it would probably be totally unrealistic to convert our doors over to butterfly style:deal:, and probably be silly looking, and blasphemous...I know...:beatyoass:, but it would definitely make an awesome show piece. Anyone ever seen that on a fox?

As I have heard such things explained, it sounds like the answer to a question nobody asked.

This is, of course, just my opinion and if you want to make something like this on your own car, go for it. You will need to seriously reinforce the the roof area that will now become the hinge mount.  Plus I would think that the doors would need a bit of reinforcing in the upper frame areas.

I don't think you would need any extra reinforcement to do that. The upper part of the door jambs are a structural part of keeping the car from folding in on its'self. It should almost be as easy as bolting some hinges to the top of the door.

But good luck finding a place to park.....  anyone along side you would keep you from opening the doors.

If you want, I can send you files.  Need an addy, too big to post here.

IIRC, the kit included reinforcements for the mounts and the doors actually opened in less space with the kit than stock.
