IRS four lug conversion

I know I'm crazy, but I really want the stock look of the black turbines.

I understand the cobra brakes won't fit under 15 inch wheels.  But the question is, if you can either redrill the hub, or replace with a four lug hub, will a GT or TC caliper bolt up to it?

Or in general is it possible to do a four lug conversion on a Cobra IRS?

I'm bracing for your response

Thanks

Jeff

I can't imagine it isn't possible. Re-drilling the hubs shouldn't be a problem, and I would bet that, with a bit of ingenuity, you could come up with a suitable brake setup.

Why not just go with adapter hubs?

cause the IRS is already too wide? :hick:

id imagine 4lug could work, but its not gonna be easy, or bolt on. there are some ranger guys fitting 11.65" cobra rear brakes under 15" wheels so turbines might fit....

my only thought of a possibility outside a completely one off machined setup would be to check into a front hub from a tempo. they use a bearing setup that is pressed together in the upright similar to the cobra IRS. i have no idea if any of the dimensions would match up or be useful in any way however.

I was hoping you'd chime in Gumby.

Thanks for the comments, guys.  Any others are welcome.  I might just give it a whirl.

I've got 40 offset in the rear, and there's a little less than an 1" or so of room on the outside.  I'll measure next chance.  In any case, you'll probably will still need to roll the fenders.

Is there an 11 inch four lug rotor that will work?

the mounts for the caliper bracket are part of the upright. you would be looking at major hacking and rebuilding to get a smaller rotor on there

have you tried talking to the aftermarket vendors, baer, stoptech etc?  maybe they have an off-the-shelf for a smaller car that will work for you?
