94 and 5 cougar limited edition cars?

i have been looking at 94 or 95 cougars to replace my 88 if i
sell it.  have run into 2 94 and 5 XR7's that are listed as
limited edition cars .no badging but the interiors are 2 tone
with cat heads in the seatbacks and the door panels are
different too.cant find anything literaturewise about them
but was wondering if they were like the special edition and
regional cars from over the years that were done offsite in
ohio before dealer delivery. anyone with any info?-irv
one had the bbs wheels and deck rack that isnt listed in
the brochure. they might have been mid year in 95.

Irv, the ones with the embroidered Cougar logos on the seats were known as the Feature Cars. I know they originally were cars painted in Iris (pink), Deep Jewel Green, and another color (Indigo? Moonlight Blue?) with all-white seats. Unfortunately I have very limited info about the cars but managed to find a small piece of literature about them at the last Columbus swap meet. It's not scanned in yet but I will do that ASAP for you.

The ones with the BBS wheels and luggage rack *should* be the 1996 Sport Package. The same looking car was renamed the Luxury Appearance Pacakge in 1997 (the 1997 Sport had the older 7-spoke 16" wheels). It may be possible that the 1996 Sport was introduced in late 1995 but I'm not positive about that. I do seem to remember them though.

there is a 95 down in fla in tricoat white on ebay.it has the wheels and luggage rack and the special interior. i also thought the
wheels and rack didnt come out till 96. the tricoat was a mid
94 extra cost option. there must have been a spring intro
on the appearance package in 95.
this particular car has white leather with a special green material insert
in the seats frt and rr, cat head floor mats[could be 25th anniv mats]
and the cat head in the frt seat backs. THANKS!--irv

i also have seen 95's with the wheels and rack.
i hate the rack being there. i bought a set of new takeoff BBS wheels
for my 94.[no i didnt buy a rack]

OK Irv, here is the body copy from the article I have, which features special spring '94 edition cars:

Cougar XR7 Feature Car
A unique spring sales opportunity will be available for Cougar XR7 shoppers. Scheduled to begin production February 7, 1994, the XR7 Feature Car will offer White leather interior trim with Opal cloth inserts and piping, along with Opal floor mats embroidered with the Cougar cat head.
 
Three special exterior colors are available, including Opal Frost Clearcoat, a new Deep Iris and new Performance White Tricoat. The XR7 Feature Car package is available at no extra cost, except when ordered with the Performance White Tricoat exterior treatment.

So this was for '94. I know someone that had a dark green one which was probably a '95 model.
As for the luggage rack, it wasn't mentioned for the '94 model but was a strong possibility (along with the wheels) for 1995.
I'll re-dig through my literature for 1995 and see if it's mentioned anywhere.

thanks eric. i have some later literature but not much
on 94 or 5 cause i gave it away with my car.

found a 94  on autotrader with the opal feature car stuff
in ky. the 95's must have been done in green.
