Alternator on eBay July 13, 2008, 03:08:39 PM Is this a feasible replacement for a 130 amp? Seems too simple, has anyone had any experience with this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200238254183 Quote Selected

Alternator on eBay Reply #2 – July 13, 2008, 03:16:12 PM I emailed the seller for more information. So we will see. Do you have a 3g alternator you would like to sell? Quote Selected
Alternator on eBay Reply #3 – July 14, 2008, 12:28:11 AM One wire (self exciting) alternators use residual magnetism in the field to start them up. Unless they have improved them, they need to be reved up fairly high before they "turn on". It would be a good idea to have a volt meter on your dash. If the voltage goes from the base battery 12v to 14v you know it is charging.Of course you will lose your idiot light. Quote Selected

So we will see. They say there is no issue with the alternator "turning on" due to low rpm. The only thing I would have to buy is a 4 AWG to make the connection. You would think for $140 it would come with it. Quote Selected

Alternator on eBay Reply #6 – July 16, 2008, 06:03:30 PM I have had really good experiences with PA-performance. I bought a 130a 3G from them back in 2000 and I needed to replace it summer 2007 and they sent me a brand-spanking new one no questions asked. They didn't even make me secure with a credit card or pay shipping up or back. They appoligized for it failing and just sent it out and I had it next day, no attitude, very professional! Not many companies are like that anymore. You should see what adperformance is putting me through with the parts for the 408 stroker I'm building. To sum it up quickly I'm still waiting for my order to be completed correctly (back-ordered rods, than wrong rods, now wrong balancer!) and I placed it April 30th! Be careful who you send your money to because if its too much $$ for you to walk away from your married to that guy till its complete and the way people do business these days get ready for a wild ride. It is too bad about not getting your motor parts. I googled ADperformance and it seems you are not the only one having problems with customer service concerning that company. I believe I was over at turboforums.com and there was a couple of guys who were having issues as well. Good luck on your build. Quote Selected
