Seat Belt Trouble

this may sound like a silly question but bear with me here
for a few weeks its been increasingly difficult to put my seat belt tab into the clip(sometimes it wont go in at all) and after some poking around i found some change, probly from my pocket made its way into the clip portion. ive been picking at it with forks and such and have had no luck getting them out.
i was hoping someone here may have had this problem before or something and could advise me on a better way to get this  out of my belt clip so i can use my belt again as i dont want to get pulled over, ya know

I know the out side casing comes off on some ford cars/trucks...

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

I had the same problem with my F-150. I used a paper clip to get a dime out of mine. It also happened to the passenger side belt once, my 10 year old son put the belt on & then could'nt get it to release. After about a half hour in the parking lot of our local John Deere dealer, I finally decided to just cut the belt. I never did get it apart. Luckily F-150's are a dime a dozen at the JY, so I had no problem finding another blue belt.

i was picking at it with some stiff wire and it just shifts around. wish i could get a pair of tweezers in there.
im probly going to have to pull the seat and take the belt clip off the track to get it out.
i might just grab the manual seat tracks i saw at the junkyard and swap them in there if i have to pull the seat out anyway, oh well:hick:

A very long spring-hook!  An old tool I used to use to service the inner's of a photocopier... there are many tiny springs no bigger than the seat belt clip...

lol, I had the identical problem in Cougar A... it was a dime that had worked it's way into the clip, it took about 20 mins of patients with my spring hook but I managed to work it out.

Good luck.

Oh, that dime also allowed me enough pocket change to buy a coffee... it was a very enjoyable cup. :-)

Jeez... you call yourself Ductape91, and you can't figure it out? :slap:

Grab something flat, like a butter knife (or a seat belt "tab"), find something else that's fairly flexible, maybe silver on one side and sticky on the other side, fold a piece of it sticky-side out over the end of the flat thing, and poke it down into the buckle. When you pull it out, there'll probably be a coin attached to the edge of it, or it will at least be up high enough to snag it with something sharp.
Death awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth.

a butter knife thing was the first thing i tried, that change(more than one piece btw) wouldnt pop out. though i never thought to put a piece of DUCTAPE which is why i posted this thread to get some input as i cant be the only guy whos got change stuck in there.

I've done that before.
don't think I ever got it out. seeing seat belts weren't mandatory then, it really wasn't a problem. At least not for me. I'm sure it drove the next owner nuts though. lol

Try the duct tape on a knife. I like that idea.

I suggest you pull the seat, then remove the seat belt receiver from the tracks. Turn 'er upside down and shake the snot out of it. You may consider depressing the release button while you do this.
It should take no more than 15 minutes to get it all apart. Pulling seats out of these cars is very easy.
