Fuel Pump Failure ?

Well I have been out breakin in the TC and what happens.........fuel pump failure ! Arrrrgh

I had a 255 lph Walbro High Pressure pump, supposedly. I bought it from a member on Turbo Ford. I am thinking it is must be a Chinese knockoff. Anyway.......

It turns on but provides no pressure as I found out coming home from work 26 miles away, and had to have it towed home.

Anybody use an inline pump instead of me getting another chinese knockoff ? And what type do you use?

Thanks for any input !

If you want an inline pump pick one up for an 84 Turbo coupe. They had one in tank and one inline. Also mid 80's Ford Trucks have an inline setup also. As long as your in tank pump can provide fuel to the inline you should be good with the inline pump.

My 155 lph Walbro is fine. You probably got a *fake* one. Get a genuine Walbro and you should be fine.

A word of warning on in-tank pumps on these cars. My slightly modified 5.0 HO stalls when floored from a stop with less that 3/4 of a tank. It does this because the stock tanks aren't sumped and the gas sloshes away from the fule pump on hard acceleration :hick:.

Why waste your time with another Chinese knockoff? Get yourself a walbro 255 high pressure pump, and youll never have another problem. Get a new sock and fuel filter while youre at it.
It's Gumby's fault.

Just a thought but did you pull your pickup out of the tank and double check the short rubber hose from the pump to the metal line? You said you can hear the pump run but there is no pressure, there is a small chance the hose popped off or split and it's just recirculating fuel in the tank.

Well, I NEVER intended to get a Chinese Knockoff, I believe I was Duped. Like I said I would never buy a knockoff !!!! I thought I did buy a genuine Walbro, but someone else had it an probably knew it was a knockoff but represented as genuine, then sold it on one of the boards.

No the lines are fine, I pulled the pump. The hose is good. The pump just runs but has no suction, it is kind of wierd. I am just going to get a new pump from a reputable source, but Iwas toying with the idea of putting an inline pump on as well.

Does it even say Walbro on it? Could it be plugged with something?

Yes it has the Walbro Stamp on it and no it isnt clogged. I will be dissassembling it so I will find out why it does not work.

I will post up pictures
