Yea im with you guys(i own a 5.0 but still) Most semi fast fords out there are powered by a 302, They are everywhere! Which is why I think the 2.3T is awesome because it makes the power, gets the gas milage, and its american! (sorta)

I welcomed the dark side and currently am driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT plus, with a 5.9, Code named project "Night Runner"
Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.
Mods to come: Fully rebuilt and heavily modded 46RE, and a richmond rachet locker.

once i replace every single gasket on the motor and replace the oil pump (which finally came it today), and rebuild the tranny, i don't foresee any problems with this car... oh yea, i'll be redoing the a/c system too.

Mike, why not put a STOCK 3.8 and leave it. Thats different. Everyone wants to either build up a turbo 5.0 or build a badass 2.3. Hell I think a stock anything is rare and cool in it's own way

I know how you feel. Fix one thing and another thing breaks. Fix that then something else. Always something. Always. I put waaay too much money into that car. The nicer I treated my TC, the worse it treated me.

Best thing I ever did was when I parted it out and bought the Stang.

The V8 will be in a NON TC. As in a totally new (to me anyways) car. Any TC's from here on out will be stock!

Though mine is stock... its been put through everything. I dont think the PO changed the oil at all.

I'd much rather have a reliable engine that can handle good amounts of horsepower.  2.3s may be cool, but are apparently a PITA to get performance and reliability out of.  However, I'd love to build a 2.3T Pinto.

Some may hate 5.0s, but then again, there must be a reason that so many people get them (same goes for sbc 350s).  They're cheap, have a great aftermarket following, all the knowledge is out there, they can handle horsepower, and can be reliable at the same time.
