Seat Question

Well today I was looking at my drivers seat and I realized that the back is able to tilt forward all by itself without having to push any sort of release. Now correct me if I'm mistaken but wouldn't one want the seat to stay in play incase of say an accident?

So I'm pretty sure my seat is broken and what I was wondering is if it will be at all possible to fix.

I always wondered that, as both of mine do the same thing. They don't lock back anymore.

My seats never locked back, and I've owned the car 15 years (and the replacement seats for maybe eight)...I've always wondered what the point of the release levers was.

The seats are working properly, that is an emergency release lever.

From the owners manual:
The seatback remains unlocked with normal usage and locks only during vehicle deceleration (emergency stopping or upon impact) or on steep downhill grades. The inertia seatback latch will allow the seatback to rotate approximately 11° foward before lock-up of the seatback. The release is provided only to unlock the seatback if necessary when parked on steep downhill grades or after an accident.

Oh yeah now I remember! It's been a few years since I read that hehe well good to know my seats aren't busted!!
