What is this? and where does it go?

Does anyone have a clue as to what this little white vac line is and where exactly the threaded end screws into. I've been laying under the dash for about 20 minutes trying to figure it out and so far no luck.....

The hole in the firewall is it a stock hole or a after market drilled hole.

Does your HVAC work in all modes (floor, dash, windshield, MAX and normal A/C)? If not that may be the vacuum hose for one of those actuators. Also it could be for the automatic park brake release - your car may have had that option but it may have been disabled at some point.

DING DING DING! We have a winner. The white collar at the base of the steering column is for the vacuum for the automatic parking brake release. You can see it in this photo:

Plug that line into the nipple on that collar and see what happens when you start the car. If something hisses then that's probably it...then again, you may luck out. But that's definitely what that line is for. The other end goes to the B/R port on the vacuum tee under the hood.

Ahh well that makes sense, only problem is that it doesn't want to screw into the white collar on the steering shaft. Furthermore it is labeled with a BR at the other end of the line in the engine bay. I'll go screw with it some more possibly tonight.

Thanks guys.

Well guys the BR line is not going into that white collar thing and i have no other idea as to where it could possibly go. The threaded shaft at the end of the line does not want to screw into anything underneath of the dash! This is really frustrating as I just want to put my dash back together and put my drivers seat back in!!!!

OK, I may be able to clarify for you. What's in that picture (green and black colored check valve) is originally found under the dash around the headlight switch, next to the fuse panel. That is its original location; obviously if it's hanging there it's been moved.

The white plastic vacuum line goes from the B/R on the vacuum tee under the hood, through the firewall, to that check valve. FROM THERE the hose coming out of the check valve is a standard black vacuum hose, and THAT is what connects to the nipple on the parking brake release collar.

Ok headlight switch next to the fuse panel that helps a bunch I just wish it wasn't so ed cramped under there so that I could see what I'm doing.
