I Need help with tripminder install

Hey everyone!  I installing a tripminder in my 87 tcoupe.  Ive got all the wires figured out but the fuel flow.  Everyone knows pin #34, blue w/ pink strip, at the ecc if you are following the dirrections from  coolcats.

However, what if you are running a mustang a9l computer?  Where then do you get the fuel flow signal from?

If you look at the wiring diagram for an 88 tbird 5.0 you will see #34 is labled "DOL" and goes from the eec to the "ELECT CLSTR" (which I would interpit as the electronic gauge cluster).  Looking at an eec wiring diagram for an 89 mustang 5.0l, pin #34 is empty!  On the 89 mustang there is no such circuit coming from any pin on the eec.  The closest circuit I can find involving fuel, is on pin 19 of the eec.  This pin is labled "FPM" and is the fuel pump monitor...not what were looking for.

Yes, i can physicaly hook up to pin 34, blue/pink wire, but there will be know signal coming from that pin in the eec so whats the point?

Someone please tell me what i need to connect this wire to.  I know one of you have had to of done this mod in conjunction with an HO conversion.

Thanks alot everone, i look forward to reading some replys!!!:birdsmily:

I am fairly certain all Fox Mustangs w/EEC-IV has the DOL connected to pin #34 even if it is not hooked up.

The wiring diagrams are in the Probst books. I looked into it to make sure I could use my tripminder with Mustang EECs.

At some point I am going to make a microcontroller to convert injector pulsewidths to the DOL voltage relationship so I can use my tripminder with any engine swap (Such as EEC-V).

In the 84 EVTSM EEC pin #34 goes to Tripminder Module pin #6.

The reason there is no wire at all in the mustang harness is because the car had no use for it. The Tbird/Cougars had the digital cluster that had the fuel functions, so they ran the wire halfway through the car, wether it had the cluster or not.

Put a pin in #34, it should work.
It's Gumby's fault.

Like i said before, i can physically connect it to #34 because the wire is there (i am using the harness, and pretty much everything,  out of my late 88 sport coupe...may it rest in peices, and be reborn in this TC).  But if the computer has no circuit for this built in, i dont think its going to work.  I guess what i want someone to tell me is that they did this conversion, tapped into #34, and it works.  If this is true then it means that the computer has this circuit eventhough it isnt used on the mustang.  If that were true then i couldnt help but wonder what other unused circuits the computer might have on other empty pins...such as an electric cooling fan circuit.

Anyways, the wire is installed and as soon as i finish installing my custom rear defogger switch and fog light switch all the wiring in the dash will be done...finally!

I've done the turbocoupe to 5.0L conversion(had an 88 sport for the wiring harness) and i run an a9p And a trip computer and all works as it's supposed to.
However it's been a few years and i cannot remember how i did it,i believe all the wires where there and all worked.

The Mustang EEC is internally connected to pin #34.

Cool, i guess it should work then.  I wont know for sure until i test it...hopefully, if everything goes as planned (never happens) sometime in the late spring or early summer.  As long as i make it to cat jam in my car this year, ill be happy:D :birdsmily:
