Software

i have become more and more interested in software that can be used to duplicate functions you would expect out of a multimeter. im looking for some resources or share ware (free stuff possibly) that would do the typical testing by using my laptop only.

Im looking at a possible job (crossing my fingers here) coming up doing test and turn up field engineering for Titan and id like to be able to use my laptop for troubleshooting as well as provisioning communications circuits.

id like to do frequency,, transistor/diode checks, capacitors,
and,,, definatly high amperage if possible.  Amperage is what i would really make the most use of.  This software would need to be AC or DC.

anyone found something that is working good for them?

Hello!,

I guess You need an acquisition card to do this, I see this over 10years ago on a computer, and it was a card on a slot with an 5.25 bay for the connections, But I absolutely don't remember what company maked this, the only thing I remember a bit is the cost of this card, over 3.000k USD...

But for a laptop I guess is expensive a lot, IF exist, probably, but I don't know...

For an high amperage measurments (1 amp and up) You will use a shunt, but it's just a speculations...

If You found, let Me know, I don't need it, but just curious...

Best regards,,,
