Has anybody tried the new weiand aluminum intake 8124 for 289-302 4 brl . There claiming its better than the others.

Haven't heard too much about the Action +. Probably no better or worse than an equivalent Edelbrock. But you know a Weiand Stealth high rise manifold will in fact fit under a Tbird hood and it gets talked about a fair bit. I have one as part of my new setup that I haven't quite perfected yet but I probably will have it working in the next day or so if you'd like to hear about my results.

I would like to know about the results. The 8124 is claiming more hp gains because of some improvement in the production process.....(summit lists them for 138$) so i thought I would try one,it might be a little more bang for the buck. They seem like it is still a special order part.
I see your running a 570 holley,how do you find that,I just got one.
I was told for throttle response at idle to stay with a low rise intake manifold? What air cleaner housing do you use?

I haven't had the chance to put my car through its paces since the upgrades because of a pesky vapor lock problem. It's been happening because I ran the carb without a proper spacer to maintain clearance. Yesterday I installed a 1/4" heat shield, Holley part # 108-70 and I think that'll do the trick. Everything still clears the hood. On the short runs I have made though, throttle response was good and crisp.
The thing that makes the Stealth manifold unique is that it's a high rise but it's a dual plane configuration rather than single plane. Dual planes maintain a smooth fuel flow at low rpms while the long runners make for good high end power. The manifold is rated for making power from Idle-6800 rpm, very unusual.
I'm using my stock donut air cleaner housing on the Holley right now, I just had to cut 2 tabs off the inner edge for it to fit.
If it'll help your decision about the manifold, there was a magazine article a while ago exploring the effect of AFR heads on a 302 HO. They baselined the engine with the stock E7 heads and added headers, a Stealth intake, and a 600 CFM carb. The combination made 278 horsepower. But anyway I'll be sure to let you know how things go with my car.

I used a weiand action plus on my 88 mustang for 2 years, it felt better than the edel. performer rpm I was using. I used the action plus, a 670 holley street avenger with a 1 inch open spacer. Throttle response was as good as a fuel injected car, ask fordguy, he rode in it a few times. I would buy an action plus again before I would use any other on the street.

are you running a rubber hose between the fuel pump and carb?.. old chevy trick if you are.. put a wood clothespin on it and it'll pinch it a little bit

Hmm. I wouldn't have thought of that. May give it a try.
