Center Console Question

Time for the consolette to vanish. I have a center console to put in but am curious if I need more parts. Will I need a new center dash trim piece? Also I believe I must remove the ashtray assy but what goes in its place, anything? Thanks for the help. the car is an 87 if it helps

You'll need the center dash trim piece, an ashtray blockout panel (either a "systems sentry" or plain lighter panel), and some brackets - the one that mounts the leading edge of the console to the dash and the one that mounts the back end to the floor. If you don't already have it you'll need the switch panel and shifter bezel (or delete if you're staying with column shift)

You'll also need to strip your driver's seat base and cut the consolette off. It's actually a welded on, structural part of the seat.

Here's a fun fact for all you Consolette people converting to console.  If you get brave and go under the car, there are dimples located where the 'stock' location for the full/mid-console mounting holes are supposed to be.  I noticed this after I installed my console and nothing lined up right.

When I converted mine, under the carpet in my car,the holes were already there for the console brackets.I cut the carpet, cut a hole in the floor of the car for the shifter, and all the bits and pieces from the donor car bolted right in.The shifter was a small challenge, but it all looks factory done.
