Ive been trying to find some 15X8" wheels to mount my drag radials on, ive got a pair of 275/50/15's (i think thats the size), and an 8" wheel is a better choice for the tires.
I cant find anything factory, but i found all sorts of truck wheels. Any chance i can find some truck wheels that will keep the wheels and tires in the wheel well?
4 lug?
5-lug
If your looking for 5 lug look at the Chrysler rims from the early 80's. Form Diplomats and Furys.
would they be 8" wide?
I had the 4-lug problem & had to get some weld racing wheels. You may have better luck looking for 5-lug.
If i remember correctly they have to be off a police packed car to be 8".
Ford Rangers have the same lug pattern as 5-lug Mustangs.
The lug pattern isnt an issue, its more or less the offset/backspacing. There are countless 15x8" wheels that bolt up, but them sitting in the wells is the hard part.
I don't think you'll find anything stock that will sit in the wheelwell - most wide rims are "deep dish". How wide would the old police-spec Fury/Diplomat wheels be? And would they be deep dish?
I was gonna suggest 2003+ Crown Vic wheels as they're shallower offset (almost FWD-style), but I don't think they come in 15"
im pretty sure all the new police interceptors are 16" wheels.i cant think of anything factory off hand that will fit.
I have a set on my part Lincoln right now and they sit flush with the the sied of the car. They don't rub and the suspention is completely colapsed.
Maybe 85ish to 90's crown vic rims. I like those rims.
Mmmm...Jeeps have the same 5-lug pattern as Fords...
That's very true, Eric, and they also have the correct offset. When I bought my Dakota (same bolt pattern again) the rims that were on it were from a Jeep Cherokee. Unfortunately they didn't fit over the calipers, as I found out when I replaced the front pads (the thickness of the pads was enough to bring the caliper out to hit the wheel) so I put "twisted" 5-spoke Explorer wheels on. The Explorer wheels were offset outwards quite a bit - the wheels stuck out past the body of the truck.
The only problem would be finding 15X8 Jeep wheels. The ones on my truck were the basic 15X6 steelies, and I think most, if not all, Jeeps used relatively small tires (215/75R15). When I put 235/75R15's on my Cherokee (15X7 Grand Cherokee "snowflake" wheels) they rubbed on the sway bar when turning. For that reason I don't know if there were any factory 15X8's, and aftermarket wheels would likely have the wrong offset.
my ranger's are 15x7.5, not 8 but closer. But then again your going to run into the offset issues most likely.
