I heard about this on another board from a guy I'd expect to be rather uninformed, but he told me they're making another "new cougar".
Is there ANYTHING behind this rumor? Is this the long awaited Messenger showcar? Something else entirely? Or another flaming pile of thrown at us like the NEC?
I didn't see anything about it with a search, but there's the last New Cougar to deal... Sorry if it's a :repost:
only thing i've heard is on cougarnuts http://www.cougarnuts.com/board/showthread.php?t=2506 but i don't get around on the net much so i sure hope so.i have heard talk about a 2007 cat using the new stang platform which would be sweet
I Saw those several months ago....

And this one....

I like the lower one a lot though the upper is nice too. Please let it be true - I'd buy a new Cougar based on the new 'Stang platform in a heartbeat.
i like the bottom better now to seeing i've never seen it befor and mine was an obvious photo chop
The orange eliminator which WAS a photoshop was the one that started the conversation, I'd seen it, still drooling.
Silver's not bad. I like the grille kitten on that one! But can someone PLEASE smash in the Acura headlights?
I tried to track the second picture down and I didnt get very far but they all told me it was PS, and you can tell if ya start looking at it.
thats also a civic grill
Point is, we can easily imagine such a vehicle based on the new platform, can Ford/Mercury?
Supposedly Lincoln-Mercury Dealers are begging for it...and there is a lot of rumors in both the press and withink Ford.
Rumors don't mean much right now...but you never know...Ford might have a Cougar concept cat at next year's auto shows!
Ok, he gave me the source of his rumor, Aug 2004 issue of HotRod magazine. It's talking about the "2007 Cougar".
I don't want to host pics if I can just link to their story, so if I find it I'll edit this post
HEY! As an RSX owner and appreciator, I resent that! :nono:
Even though I would offer that the headlights look out of place on the car - not assertive enough.
That article was just telling Detroit what kinds of cars they need to make.
Granted Hot Rod was right about the Cougar, but I'm too cynical to believe that anyone in Detroit is gonna care what they think.
Acura headlights really don't go on a Mercury. I wouldn't care if it were something that made the front end look better, but they just don't carry the lines of the car, they look horribly out of place. Besides, they scream Acura, not Cougar.
Yeah, I realized when he sourced a magazine that it's pretty much a false rumor; but since I perpetuated it, I had to say it here even though we know that it'll have a snowball's chance...
Guys, those lights come from the Australian Ford Falcon. They aren't rice when they come from a RWD car with a 6-spd and a big V8.
, beat me to it. I knew they looked familliar, and not from Acura. The new RSX headlamps look like they were lifted from the new Pontiac GP.
