Title: New Exhaust
Post by: xr7cat on August 27, 2006, 12:42:59 AM
Well since the tuck died on me and I don't really wanna put anymore money into the pit. I have decided to get the cat up and running, the AOD is getting repair as I type, I also will be doing dual exhuast, and wanted your opion on how it should exit the rear?

Just shout out some Ideas

(Would love to racke it and do side pipes)

Also I want to put a wing on the trunk, any ideas of what style and where I can get one, (I like the elimnator style) Thanks a bunch

And what is your opions on the flames? The ones on there are peeling off, should I reaplace em or just take em off?

Daniel

Headers No Cats 2.5" all the way header back, offroad h pipe, flowmasster 40s, REAR EXITING exhaust w/ two chrome tips. (my setup, and i love it) Side exiting exhaust is either a hit or miss type deal with me. Now Ive seen a few cars (ex. eric's convertible) that has side exhaust and looks good, mainly due to it being moldeed into the bodykit sideskirts. So i guess what I'm saying unless you got a kit side mount tips on our cars w/o a kit just doesn't do it for me. But I'm not saying when done properly it wouldn't look/sound nice.

As for the flames, my opinion, I would take them off if there were any signs of peeling just so it looks clean. Judging by your sig the car looks pretty, pretty... and peeling stickers will only take away from it. Your not going to need something such as those flames to stick out. You got that awesome two tone paint which is my favorite combo out of all the color combos on these cars. Stick with what works for it.

What he said sounds fine, except for the Slowmasters.. but I can't stand how they sound so that's just me. Have 'em on my truck and I hate 'em.

I'd drop the blue flames. I think they really detract from the look of your car. However, it is your car do what you want about them. I kept the bra on mine because I like the way it looks while others absolutely hate it.

I'd put headers on your car with 2 1/4 duals without cats with the tips straight out the back or one turn-down on both sides behind the rear tires. You might be able to get away with 2.5 exhaust if you have mods to the motor. Otherwise 2 1/4 would be plenty for a stock motor.

I'd defineately go with a set of shorty headers, off road x-pipe (they flow great),2 1/2 inch exhaust out the back.I notched my rear bumper, bumper cover, and bumper brackets and tucked my exhaust up like the new Mustang GT exhaust is.I did the mos about 3 1/2 years ago before I had the car painted.I used 3 1/2 inch angle cut tips with rolled edges for the factory look.I am using Warlock lers. They are pretty quiet, the more rpms, the deeper the growl, and they have built in cut-outs that you can unplug if you go to the track.I do recommend the x-pipe,the flow is better than an H-Pipe and it'll add a few horsepower over you stock exhaust easily.Good luck.

O.K.,I stepped outside, snapped some shots of the engine, tail pipes, and modified tach in the dash, but still can't figure out how to post them.I checked the thread that Bird351 just posted, and no luck.I only saw red x's.It's probably simple, but I can't figure it out.

You need a simple image editing program like IrfanView (http://"http://www.irfanview.com") for size reduction, which is what I'm guessing the problem is. Install IrfanView, load the image, and you can resize it to something smaller like 512x384 or 640x480.. then when you go to save the image, save it as a JPG and reduce the quality to somewhere around 80% if you want a bit more of a file size reduction.

You can also sign up for a site like ImageShack (http://"http://www.imageshack.us") and they will host larger images for you, and even provide text you can copy and paste into forum posts.

If you have xp just download the image resizer powertoy it can be found here (http://"http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx")
once its installed all you have to do is right click your picture file and hit "resize" than just pick the size you want. I always pick 800x600
