Well, I thought my pan gasket was leaking...turns out it really IS my cooler lines/fittings at the transmission...at idle the top fitting(which I'm going to assume is the pressure side for obvious reasons) is leaking at a rate of approximately 1 drop every 2 seconds. Is there a simple fix for this? Seems like it really only started after my attempt at bending the cooler lines slightly to facilitate O2 sensor replacement( long-tube headers).

yeah go by two fittings from help. there fairly inexpensive! mine does the same ting but is not that bad so i left it alone

Sounds like a good idea Nick, if it gets worse, I will go about fixing it...don't feel like dropping these God forsaken flowtech headers...lol.

This is the stupidest god design I've seen in my life...I'm pulling those bullshiznit fittings out and putting in NPT fittings and some trans cooler hose to the existing lines...to hell with it all.
did you try some teflon tape or anything like that?
I wish that would work, but it's not the threads, it's the plastic b/s pieces insided the fittings...however I will re-engineer it to the way it SHOULD have been, instead of the way some yokel who graduated from the University of Kansas designed it.
Try the Ford dealer. That's where I got mine. They've used them for the last 20+ years. The fittings and clips are shown at the bottom of this page... http://ken-co.com/fmsi/connectors.htm
The plastic clips just keep the hard-line in the fitting by snapping onto the "shoulder" that's formed near the tip. An O-ring down inside the fitting does the sealing. With a clean pipe, and the end tweaked so it smoothly goes straight in (not bent like you said you did), it takes about .5 seconds to connect a line.
Just don't bugger up the threaded holes in the case. They're
NOT NPT, they're straight-cut.
Well, the NPT fittings are in and it's fine, they're brass not steel...leak free finally. I just have to get the tranny fluid of off everything under the car...getting ready to BBQ now, so maybe later tonight I'll work on that.
And I discovered part of my problem with removing them...looks like somebody took an acetylyne torch to it...yet its the original trans/lines and they've never been touched...go figure.
I'm resurrecting this to let everyone know that I changed these connectors out, and Dorman makes them. They're part number 800-608 for Ford 1982-1994, and I paid 7.99 each for them at O'reilly's.
