Title: 1988 Thunderbird
Post by: DryGoods on December 24, 2004, 10:01:45 AM
Hello, this is my first post here.  I just bought this T Bird about 6 weeks ago, paid $800 for it.    The car has has the 3.8 V6.  I guess I am lucky, as the car only has 56k original miles, but it does have a few mechanical issues to iron out.  I have been using it daily as my winter driver, so far it has popped over real well in the Zero degree temps!

Man looks like rear air shocks or cargo springs.

Thanks for all the comments!  The car might have cargo coils on it, but when I had it up in the air it didn't appear as such. There are replacement Gabriel shocks on it, no air though.  I did remove the wire wheel covers and replaced them with a 1980 T Bird cover set I found on eBay.  I also sold the wires on eBay.  The only issue I am working out now is a rattle/clunk out of the rh front corner of the car after making LH turns and my repair garage says the front suspension and the struts/mounts are in good shape, as well as all of the engine/transmission mounts.  Guess I'll keep driving it until something happens!  Again, thanks for the comments, Happy New Years!

Yeah, like Shawn said, probably endlinks.  A $15 job you can do without even taking the wheels off (though it makes it 100x easier).

Well, I'm a piker now, as I just sold my T Bird.  I am being transferred to another territory out of state and 1000 miles away, and to move all the contents of my condo into a new one elsewhere & 2 cars in addition to my company truck is too much for me to sort out, so one vehicle had to go, the T Bird.  My company agreed to pay for my moving expenses and alike, but because I'm single, they would only pay to transport 1 personal vehicle (as I will drive the company van to my destination).  I did get $1500 for it, not bad as I had about $1100 into it after repairing it and I drove it for 6 months.  I paid $800 for it as it stood then.  Thanks for all the input and help over the past few months everyone, I'll try to stay in touch!
