I've got a friend who has a brand new Valeo clutch kit for his '87 TC without the throw out bearing he wants to sell me. Will the clutch kit for an '87 t5 fit an '85 t5? Are the throw out bearings the same?!?!!? If I buy the clutch kit from him and go to a parts store and just buy a throw out bearing, will it fit??!!? I'm a noob with this stuff, so please help me if you can!!!!!! Thanks all in advance! :D

You can buy a different tob and it will fit, just done the same thing for my sprint, got a used clutch (like 200-300km) without a tob and grabbed one from the parts store that will work fine, the clutch is a valeo too ironically.
As for it working on the 85 I'd assume it would, just go to a parts store and ask if the parts numbers are the same.
Just buy the TOB for the '85. The rest of the clutch will work fine.
