A fair assesment of the car. The article pretty much nails it and is unbiased.
I'd have to agree the article is pretty spot-on as well. I, as well as all of you, can relate to the poor city mileage of these cars (they were lucky to get 15 MPG - I'm lucky to top 12 city). I think it's safe to say that we all think these cars should've had HO power available as well (at the very least, the 200-horse E6 HO). I aso agree that a big part of the allure of these cars lies not in their stock presence, but in their potential (I know M/T was referring to the potential that Ford could realize, not us 20+ years later, but potential is potential). But when you consider what these cars were positioned against (Cordoba, Mirada, GM G-bodies) they were quite remarkable. Almost revolutonary.
