Title: 2.3 header question
Post by: Ether947 on August 09, 2006, 05:56:46 PM
Perhaps someone can shed some light on this for me because I just can't seem to figure it out. When using Stinger's 2.3t header, why must you use an external wastegate? If the wastgate and all of it's associated parts are on or in the turbo, what forces the need to switch to an external setup? I have sliced this every which way I can imagine and I don't get it. someone please take me to school. :D

I dont think that its required, but i think it would ease installation. You would have to custom build the elbow, and most people cant do that. Its usually easier to block the hole and stick an external on there...especially considering it has the  for it.

stinger has the custom down pipes so you could still use your internal if desired.

Stinger also sells the rear turbo down tubes with the waste gate removed. That is when they are telling you to use the External  one. Also if I rember useing just the header you can get it with or wtih out the external mount. So you can use it with you stock setup.
