Title: Possible Underdrive Pulleys
Post by: Silencer on August 07, 2006, 06:41:21 AM
Does anyone have experience using underdrive pulleys on a 5.0 CFI?
Any more power? Any overheating?
Also, does anyone know where you can find them for an 84 V8?

I'd look for a set for a mustang as you probably wont find them for a t-bird/cougar

edit:  was wrong look on http://www.summitracing.com  they have a few sets to choose from but they are the same part numbers as the mustang

If you're still running the stock alternator, I wouldn't try it.

I completly agree. When I bought my Cougar it had a set on it and if I sat in a parking lot too long with the engine running, vent blower running, and the radio on (no amp or anything like that). The battery would be dead within 25min or so.

What Chuck said(although I ran a stock 60A alt for almost four years with no problem, but it won't charge at idle). I dunno if they still sell underdrives for a V-belt setup...

Title: overdriven alternator?

Is there a way to underdrive all of the accessories except the alternator, or does it have to work all together?
